Read Alliance was featured on "Monica Makes It Happen" on PIX11 highlighting the organization’s impact as described by Staten Island parent, Erin Tanner.

Two of Erin's three children have all benefited from the Read Alliance program, starting with her oldest son, who struggled with reading after the disruptions of COVID. By the end of the program, he was reading at grade level, a transformation that left Erin in awe of the program’s impact. When her daughter, in kindergarten, also began falling behind, Erin advocated for her to join the program, despite not qualifying because of how far behind she was.

The results were equally impressive: her daughter is now excelling. Erin is an enthusiastic supporter of Read Alliance, even encouraging other parents to enroll their children. She believes that without the program, her children wouldn’t be reading at grade level. Erin also has shared that she and her husband can no longer text anything without their children reading it, thanks to how good their kids are at reading now. Erin recognizes the personalized attention Read Alliance provides, which is a big reason for its success in helping her children become independent readers and excel in school.

Erin and Read Alliance Executive Director, Danielle G. Guindo, MSW, were featured on PIX11’s “Monica Makes it Happen” with MONICA MORALES ahead of READ's 25th anniversary gala. The segment can be found below!
