Read Alliance Teen Leadership Youth Summit 2022
“Elevating Youth Voices”
Thank you to Ariannee LeBeau for featuring Read Alliance on WPIX.
On August 12, READ’s Fourth Annual Youth Summit “Elevating Youth Voices” took place at the Ford Foundation’s Center for Social Justice. With the support of generous and mission-aligned corporate and foundation supporters, nearly 100 READ Teen Leaders from all five boroughs of NYC came together to celebrate their achievements as literacy role models for striving young readers.
The Youth Summit was a full-day event that enhanced the Teen Leaders’ paid job experience with interactive learning opportunities including engaging workshops, inspiring panels, and meaningful activities that promoted important professional and leadership skills. The Summit served as a unique opportunity to connect visionaries in the corporate sector, education activists, and mission-aligned philanthropists who share a dedication to advancing equity and success for young people.
Valued partners KeyBank, The Climate Museum, Riley’s Way Foundation, CityYear, Black Cotten, and WPIX all helped make the day a tremendous success by participating in our Summit programming.
We were thrilled to present Customers Bank with the Trailblazer Award for Corporate Social Responsibility for their partnership in advancing and expanding our important mission. "Our first opportunity to expand beyond the five boroughs in more than a decade is in Reading, PA and that would not have happened without Customers Bank's support. It's not only the financial support that has been transformational, but it is also their authentic involvement in the success of the READ mission," said Danielle Guindo, Read Alliance Executive Director.
