Teen Leadership Program (TLP)
The Read Alliance Teen Leadership Program (TLP) offers New York City Teen Leaders opportunities to support their development personally and professionally. The TLP adds additional hours of paid professional development opportunities in person and virtually in line with Teen Leaders’ expressed interests. READ has leveraged partnerships with corporations to provide programs and workshops on college and career exposure and coaching; goal setting and time management; networking and effective communication; financial literacy; health and wellness; civic engagement and leadership development.
The TLP culminates in an Annual Youth Summit which is a one-day event that maximizes the relationships with mission-aligned corporations and champions of youth leadership to address relevant and important topics that advance teen leadership development. Keynote speakers, topical panels, dynamic workshops, and other professional development components are implemented along with a celebration of Teen Leader accomplishments and opportunities for teens to network with each other and various professionals in different career fields.
Read Alliance is committed to connecting the Teen Leadership job opportunity with a pipeline to college and careers in education via our Pathways to Education Initiative.
Pathways to Education Initiative creates a formal pipeline between the Teen Leader experience and teaching careers; the goal is to have our Teen Leaders become teachers in NYC schools and to support economic mobility in their communities.
